Marlow policeman is a hero

Local Marlow police officer, Inspector John McDonald has been commended, after risking his life to prevent a serious explosion.
John Mcdonald led the negotiations with intoxicated 37 year-old, Darren Mace who had filled his flat with gas and was threatening to ignite the fumes using a blow torch.
Putting his own life at risk, McDonald persuaded Mace to open a window but was forced to run for cover when the man lit a cigarette. The judge presiding over the case at Reading Crown Court said how amazing it was that there was no actual explosion.
Darren Mace has been jailed for 26 months, acused of one count of ABH and of making threats to damage property.
