Progress of the renovations at Marlow Railway Station are marching forward, as a new passenger shelter and modern cycle racks have been installed as part of £16,000 refurbishment.

We are told that these measures to improve the comfort and convenience for passengers, will eventually include CCTV and a ticket machine.

Speaking to the Bucks Free Press this week, Marlow Mayor Cllr Jocelyn Towns said: "We are very excited that the new shelter and cycle racks are now in place at the station, we have been working closely over the last year with Network Rail and First Great Western to improve this important gateway to our town.

"These recent improvements will help the experience of commuters and visitors alike to the town,.

"We would like to thank those involved in helping us get to where we are today, and assure the users of the Station that we are working on further improvements."

The improvements hare the result of a partnership between Buckinghamshire County Council's Local Area Forum, Marlow Town Council, Marlow-Maidenhead Passengers Association, First Great Western, Network Rail, and Wycombe District Council.

The shelter and cycle racks are part of a bigger scheme of improvements at Bourne End, Cookham, and Furze Platt stations along the old Marlow Donkey line. Replacement of station clocks will also take place as a necessary improvement to customer information systems.

Discussions are still on-going with WDC about extending its CCTV services to Marlow. The security is required before rail operators would install a ticket machine.

Are there other improvements that you feel would benefit the Marlow commuters? Share your thoughts here.
