A day in the life of...Clare Kirby of LUSH LASHES

As part of a regular feature on Marlow People, we find out more about the personalities and businesses that make Marlow tick.  This week, we meet Clare Kirby of LUSH LASHES, who specialises in amazing natural-looking lash extensions.

What's your business all about?

I am a fully qualified Semi-Permanent Eyelash Technician and work full time from home and mobile, creating fuller, thicker and longer lashes for ladies in the Bucks and Berks area.

What does a typical day involve?

I start work between 8am and 9am most days - either at home or out and about in Marlow, Henley or Bourne End.  The rest of the day is spent with my clients - sometimes I don't finish until 8pm.

What do you like most about your job?

I love being out and about.  I like to watch people going about their day around me, seeing plenty of sunshine and having the flexibility to do what I like.  Most of all, I really enjoy meeting all the different people.  Quite a few of my clients have become good friends.

What frustrates you the most?

I struggle with not having a set routine sometimes - like knowing what time I'll be making dinner or whether I'll be able to get to that gym class.  Its the only thing I really miss but I carry my clubs with me in case I get time to squeeze in game of golf. After lash extensions, golf is my second biggest skill/hobby.

What do you love most about Marlow?

I love the shops in Marlow, the atmosphere and the amazing views of the Thames with all the greenery around it.  It's always clean here and feels cosy somehow.  I've discovered that a lot of the people in the town all know each other, which I think is nice.

What's your favourite thing to do out and about in Marlow?

When I get the time, I like to pop into Starbucks and order myself a Frappacino, followed by a quick trip down the High Street for some window shopping.
